Garage Door Construction- Layers

The Difference Between Garage Door Layers.

Steel garage doors are all constructed in layers and are available in 1-, 2-, or 3-layers. The more layers, the better the door can help maintain the temperature in your garage, lower the door operating noise level and most importantly provide the greatest strength.

3 layer

3-Layer: STEEL + INSULATION + STEEL

99% of  our New England customers choose a 3-layer door. A door that is fully encased with a steel front and back provides the greatest stability.

• Exterior and Interior Steel- Provides greater strength and durability against dents and damage
• Durable, Reliable, Low Maintenance
• Environmentally Safe Polystyrene or Polyurethane Thermal Insulation
• Exceptional Energy Efficient
• Quiet Operation

2 layer

2-Layer: STEEL + INSULATION

A 2-layer steel garage door provides a steel front with a layer of insulation. With absence of a steel back, 2-layer doors offer lower insulation and less stability if bumped by your car

• Exterior Steel
• Low Maintenance
• Environmentally Safe Polystyrene Thermal Insulation with Vinyl Backing

1 layer garage door
1-Layer: STEEL
1-Layer doors do not provide any insulation and not recommended for New England homes. They are a great choice for outdoor sheds. 1-Layer doors are more susceptible to dents since there is no middle and backing layer to stabilize the construction of the door. No recommended for high wind locations.
• Exterior Steel with no insulation or steel backing.
• Lightweight,Low Maintenance
